I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary

William J. and Gloria Gaither, Dale Oldham

Why Mount Calvary? All men are created sinners, (Psalms 51:5, Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10, Psalms 14:1-3) and because of that sin we are in need of atonement. Mount Calvary speaks of the Perfect Sacrifice for all who believe - for all time (John 3:16). Jesus our Lord lived a perfect life - one we couldn’t live, and died in payment for our sin - a price we couldn’t pay. The Scriptures say that if we believe in Him, He will save us (Romans 10:9-13, Ephesians 2:8-9). That is why we believe in a Hill called Mount Calvary.

I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary
I believe whatever the cost
And when time has surrendered
And earth is no more
I’ll still cling to the old rugged Cross

I believe that this life with it’s great mysteries
Surely someday will come to an end
Oh but Faith will conquer the darkness and death
And will lead me at last to my Friend

I believe that this Christ
Who was slain on the Cross
Has the power to change lives today
For He changed me completely
A new life is mine
That is why by the Cross I will stay

I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary
I believe whatever the cost
And when time has surrendered
And earth is no more
I’ll still cling to the old rugged Cross
