On July 24, 1985 Luke Jackson Hunter was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Life was a bit of a struggle for Luke as he liked to have his own way! At the young age of 5, he and his Mom decided to start praying that God would change him and He did. God softened Luke's heart and molded him into a tender and caring little boy. At 8 years of age, Luke was diagnosed with Perthes disease in his left hip. He had been troubled with his leg and had visited numerous doctors, but by the time they realized what the problem was, he was in the fourth and final stage of the disease. The ball of the hip was deteriorated by a lack of blood supply. It was flat on the top and cracked as if someone had taken a hammer to it. The doctors didn't know if Luke would ever walk again, let alone play sports. Once again, God stepped in and another miracle transformed Luke's life. The once crumbling hip joint was healed...and when the next x-rays were taken, God, in His awesome power completely restored the ball of the socket back to its original form. Luke went to school and played his hockey in Shaunavon until 13 yrs of age when he made the AA peewee team in Swift Current. Then when he was 14, he was taken in the 2nd round of the WHL draft by the Swift Current Broncos. Luke played one year at Caronport High School and then started his career as a WHL forward. He played with the Broncos for 5 seasons, captaining the team for the final 2 years. Despite the joys and excitment of playing hockey, a highlight of his career was the night 7 of his teammates gave their heart to the Lord. In 2006/07 Luke played hockey at the University of Calgary while going to school there. This past year he decided to come home and farm and sing with his family. Ephesians is Lukes favorite book of the Bible and his favorite passage is Colossians 3:1-17
